CHAMPION SILVER FOX DEVILMAYCARE
"MAKER"
Am Can Ch Samkita's Speak of the Devil X Porshia of the Polar Mist |
Maker was misnamed, because he most definitely is not "devilmaycare" in attitude. Instead, he's a real "Mama's Boy" who loves to perch on grooming tables, have his belly scratched and give me "the nudge" when I'm not paying enough attention to him.

May 1994: Maker, handled by Clark, did quite well at the May 1994 Tyee Kennel Club (Vancouver Island, British Columbia) during a Samoyed Booster weekend. From puppy class, he was Best Puppy all three days, reserve winners dog on 2 of the 3 days (not stated on sign) and was pulled in Puppy Group! He even won the grooming table he's so fond of perching on.
August, 1994: At 14 months, he was Best Opposite Sex in puppy sweeps at the Samoyed Club Of Washington State Specialty, out of coat. Judge Judy Mears kept looking at him, but gave Best In Sweeps to a lovely young bitch and said, "It's too bad he left his wardrobe at home."
September, 1994: Maker went Best Of Breed over a Special (big sister Sassy) for his first point at Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club at Helena, MT. That alone was exciting yet he went on to a Working Group 3 placement over Best In Show winners under judge Joe Tacker!! It's a shame that neither the BOB nor Group placement photos turned out well.
October, 1995: Reserve Winners Dog (5 point major) at the Samoyed Club of Central Arizona Specialty under Judge Charles Herendeen.
November, 1996: Arizona. WD and BOW from BBE class for his first major under judge Ken Buxton. Maker now just needs another major to finish!
August, 1997: Reserve Winners Dog (4 pt major) from BBE class at Olympic Kennel Club under Judge Janet Wicox.
June, 1999: After trying for 2 1/2 years to get that last major and not getting results, Maker has been retired so I can concentrate on his nephew Kodi. Maker is small with a lot of biscuit coloring and I simply can't afford the many entry fees it will take to educate judges.
September, 2003: New Champion at Ten Years Old! After finishing nephews Kodi and Tiger, I brought Maker out of a 4+ year retirement because he looked good and deserved one last try for that final major to finish. He was Reserve Winners dog to 3 different Winners Dogs and I was once again getting frustrated. But on the fourth day, he took Winners Dog (for the major to finish) and then Best of Winners for 5 points under judge Sharon Weston! The first day, a ring steward (and Samoyed breeder judge) asked if his date of birth listed in the catalog as 6-29-93 was correct (it was) and no one thought he looked or acted like a 10 year old. He thoroughly enjoyed the road trip and being back in the ring not to mention courting all those cute Sammy girls that don't live with him. And, he got a very good look for Best of Breed the following day (politics prevailed because the judge had given the other dog special a Group 4 two days earlier).
To top it all off, his granddaughter Spring took her first major at the second show under judge Warren Hudson. I am not aware of any other granddaughter/grandsire getting majors in the same week!
This is not a good photo of Maker; Samoyeds do not look good in profile and his head should have been up. However, this photo shows his beautiful biscuit color better than earlier photos.
