Sassy's Pedigree

Sassy is aptly named because she has "sassed back" since the day she was born in May,1991She got the nick name "Roo Roo" because that is the sound she makes when she "talks" to us.  When she's being a food hound, her nick name is changed slightly to "Piggy Roo" which she apparently enjoys by the tail wagging she does.

Sassy and I learned about dog shows together and were often entertainment for spectators and exhibitors alike.  It was a challenge to channel her abundant energy but once she figured out what she was supposed to do, Sassy started winning and finished in just over a year.  She's a natural show off with a great attitude!

In January 1994, Sassy went Best Of Breed over several top Specials from open bitch class for her first 4 point major.  What a thrill!  Spectators and fellow exhibitors were so excited, the judge thought she had finished her championship! This certainly was a day I'll never forget!

Although Sassy was out of coat,  we took an April trip to the Tyee shows on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC  Canada for a Samoyed Booster show weekend in 1994.  Sassy had 2 Canadian points from puppy class two years before and received 8 points that weekend to finish her Canadian Championship.   The judge kept looking at her for Best of Breed but in the end just couldn't give a hairless dog the top award.   It's funny how dogs don't look quite so naked until the show photos come back!

A very out of coat Sassy!

After a few months off to grow coat, Sassy went Winners Bitch & Best Opposite Sex in June, 1994 under breeder judge Robert Ward for another 4 point major to finish her American Championship.  Sassy is not only our first champion but also our first home bred champion!

In May 1997, Sassy earned her Canine Good Citizens title with only a few minutes of refresher training.  She's been specialed here and there, whenever she gave me that look that says, "Why can't I go?" and has gotten several BOS over Specials, most recently from Veterans Class.
